About the role

Do you enjoy building and operating highly scalable, reliable cloud platforms that power thousands of fitness studios? Are you passionate about Linux, networking, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure? Do you thrive when guiding teams through complex technical challenges and building world-class engineering cultures? Then we would like to welcome you as Team Lead (m/f/d) to our growing international team in Berlin! In this role, you'll balance hands-on engineering with people leadership, spending roughly half of your time designing and operating our modern GCP infrastructure and the other half mentoring, and empowering a high-performing Cloud Infrastructure team.  If this sounds like your next move, we'd love to hear from you—apply now! Team Leadership : You guide and mentor the Cloud Infrastructure team (4 people) with full disciplinary responsibility, fostering a culture of ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement
Platform Architecture : You work hands-on with the team on designing, building, and operating scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure on GCP using modern DevOps practices
Infrastructure Automation : You drive infrastructure-as-code initiatives and CI/CD improvements using Terraform, Helm, GitHub Actions, and related tooling to reduce toil and improve velocity
Cross Team Collaboration : You partner with Software Engineering teams and the SRE team, enabling them to build and operate reliable services while advocating for infrastructure needs
Technical Innovation : You contribute to architectural decisions, continuously challenge existing solutions, and stay current with cloud technologies to improve scalability and resilience
Problem Solving : You take on diverse technical problems and work on tasks that enable continuous learning and technical growth
Security Hardening : You implement robust measures to protect our cloud environment and deployment platforms
Leadership Experience : You have at least 1 year of experience as Team Lead or Engineering Manager with full disciplinary responsibility for a software engineering team
Cloud & DevOps Expertise : You bring several years of extensive experience in Systems Engineering or DevOps, with deep technical focus on Linux, networking, Kubernetes, and cloud providers (preferably GCP)
Infrastructure as Code : You possess solid expertise with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and have managed containerized workloads at scale
Observability & Monitoring : You are familiar with monitoring and observability stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana
Scripting & Automating : You script and automate effectively using Python or Bash, with Go or Java experience being a significant advantage
Technical Leadership : You act as a proactive problem solver with a strong sense of ownership, technical judgment, and the ability to mentor and guide other engineers
Hands-On Mindset : You want to stay deeply technical while leading people—not transition into pure management
Integration : You gain a deep understanding of the EGYM ecosystem and how the different teams within the software engineering organization collaborate
Mastery : You become fully comfortable with our cloud infrastructure, tooling, and automation workflows
Leadership : You establish yourself as a trusted technical and people leader within the Cloud Infrastructure team
Mentorship : You actively mentor engineers, provide constructive feedback, and support their professional growth
Modern Tech Stack & AI Evolution : We don't just maintain; we evolve. Explore our Tech Radar to see our stack, and join us in building an AI-agentic, iterative, and incremental product culture where AI is a core accelerator of our development lifecycle
Learning Time : Use 10% of your time on learning topics of your choice (conferences, hackathons, internal and external events, videos, books or innovation projects)
Choose Your Equipment : Use state-of-the-art laptops (MacOS, Linux, Windows? Choose your weapon! Also choose your Distro!)
International Team : Join our diverse and international team to collaborate with talented professionals from around the world
Work-Life-Balance : Benefit from flexible working hours, home office possibilities and 30 days of vacation per year
Fit & Healthy : Train for free with EGYM Wellpass in several thousand sports and health facilities across Germany and/or alternatively use our in-house gym with EGYM products
Flex Budget : Use €60 per month flexibly for public transportation and a meal subsidy
Mentoring Program : Exchange knowledge and grow together across teams and locations through our self-organized mentoring platform
