AWS Config and Config Rules have been leading this transition by providing insights into user activity, change tracking and automated security and compliance tools. We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to join a highly respected team building one of the largest configuration audit platforms in the world. We are building agentic AI solutions that automate the end-to-end lifecycle of resource type onboarding - from research and schema authoring through testing, validation, and deployment. You'll work at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems and AI-driven automation, designing agents that can reason about AWS service APIs, author configuration schemas, and validate correctness with minimal human intervention. Key job responsibilities - Design, build, and operate high-scale, highly available distributed services that extend AWS Config. - Design and build AI agent orchestration systems that automate resource type onboarding at scale - Own solutions across the full lifecycle: design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and support. - Own operational excellence for agentic workflows - monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms - Mentor and guide junior engineers through design reviews and constructive, rigorous code reviews. - Bring structure to ambiguous problems, manage competing priorities, and make data-driven decisions.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience - 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience - 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience - Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field - Experience programming with at least one software programming language
