The Shield team serves as AWS's central defense force, standing at the forefront of protecting AWS infrastructure and millions of customers from sophisticated attacks across the internet. Our mission is critical: safeguard the AWS cloud infrastructure that powers a significant portion of the modern internet. We build sophisticated services and tools to detect incoming threats and prevent or mitigate their impact on our cloud services. In today's rapidly changing threat landscape—from advanced botnet attacks to emerging attack vectors—we must constantly evolve our defenses to stay ahead of adversaries. We're seeking passionate software developers who want to make an impact by preventing DDoS attacks against our cloud services and continuously evolving our defenses as the threat landscape shifts. - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience - 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience - 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience - Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field - Experience programming with at least one software programming language
